Sometimes The Cat - Time Enough At Last lyrics

ad
Numbly he opens his eyes
Then he starts to realize
The broken shards of the buildings lying around him
Seem to be his home town
He picks up his suitcase, his tie, and his hat
He looks around at the landscape
Looming overhead is a tall grey building
Cardboard boxes pouring out

At first he shies away from the building
Proceeding to the left towards the general store
Piles and piles of food await at his feet
He sits down on his throne, begins to ponder
For hours he lies upon a couch, thinking about
The day's events and his unlikely future
Before he decides that he must join the rest of them
He decides to give the building a try

Inside the boxes lie several spectra of color
Words set in stone on the printed page
He pulls them out one by one, dusting them off
Carefully sorting them into piles
Finally he finishes and sits down on the marble
Picking one up set aside for later
He opens up the cover and begins to read
Off of his face his glasses shatter
